The primary purpose of this book is to present quantitative forecasting of the mid-term probability of large earthquakes both globally and over various regions of the world.? The author used the novel seismic activity regression formula to calculate the probability of an earthquake, in the global and major seismic zones, with any given magnitude at any given time since the most recent earthquake of the same magnitude. This book is the author's 50+ years accumulation of achievements in researching and teaching geophysics and seismology for mitigation of earthquake disasters. 馬英九完成鐵人三項 臉書分享網友稱讚
（中央社記者沈如峰宜蘭縣23日電）前總統馬英九今天參加「2018年宜蘭梅花湖全國鐵人三項錦標賽」半程賽，順利以2小時0分59秒完賽。馬英九賽後於臉書貼出拿著完賽獎牌的照片，獲網友稱讚。
馬英九在上午前往宜蘭冬山梅花湖，參加「2018年宜蘭梅花湖全國鐵人三項錦標賽」半程賽，包括游泳0.75公里、自由車20公里、路跑5公里。
在比賽之前，馬英九上台致詞時表示，他最早在2003年參加鐵人賽，但之後因為公職關係沒辦法參加，卸任後很希望恢復過去盡情運動的好日子。
馬英九也不忘說冷笑話，強調鐵人三項第一項就是游泳，游泳人多就是「人多腿雜」，不只選手要注意安全，還要參賽者「不能游得比我快」，若游太快以超速論處，游太慢以妨礙交通移送法辦，希望大家能夠游出健康、跑出健康、騎出健康。
經過一番競爭，馬英九順利以2小時0分59秒完賽。賽後，馬英九開心在臉書貼出自己拿著完賽獎牌的照片，許多網友直呼，「馬總統好厲害」、「勇腳馬總統，太強了」。（編輯：方沛清）1070923
